Key Definitions

Term Definition
UAN User Account Number — An 8-digit identifier assigned to each account by the Irish carrier. Required for all porting requests. Found on invoices or obtainable from the carrier directly.
EIR Major Irish telecommunications provider (formerly Eircom).
Open Eir (OEIR) The wholesale division of EIR, providing infrastructure to other carriers.

Notes

  • Ireland has relatively lightweight documentation requirements (LOA, UAN, and invoice only).
  • The critical risk is timing: ports requested after 3:00 PM may result in numbers going offline until the next business day if issues arise.
  • EIR/Open Eir customers should proactively verify and potentially cancel special services before porting to avoid service loss.
